Well here we are ....the last night in Morgan County. We had a very successful week.
Whether we were able to completely finish a job or make serious headway....we all feel that we accomplished a lot in helping the people in the area.
These same people also gave us inspiration ! They were so grateful to have us in their homes and we were so grateful to be here.
After our work day ended today, our ASP leaders grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for us all followed by a game of whip cream catching ( impossible to explain) but CHT kids OWNED it and Jack and Wrenn won the contest!! So proud!
Our team decided to stay here at camp instead of joining the other groups for fire works in Kingston.
The kids took time to hang out with each other, playing spoons , basketball, and just sitting around laughing !!! It is a beautiful sight to see your children spending time like this together. The bonus of having a small group this year was that they all really got to know one another! They have strengthened old friendships and built new ones! A special shout out to our CHiTheads on the trip... Sasha and Madi!!! They were amazing !! Great peer leaders and all around spectacular young women!
I have known both of them since they were small and it fills my heart to see how strong their friendship is and how they have grown over the last 4 years ! Kind, thoughtful, helpful, smart, engaging and loving are just a few of the words I can use to describe them!
They happily helped me with anything I asked of them on the trip and took the initiative to be real leaders!
Finally a THANK YOU to my wonderful chaperones, Sue , Susan, Barry, Mark, Deb, Matt, and JC!!!
These trips would not be possible without the unbelievable commitment of these 7 adults that are the parents to your kids on the mission trip.
They are my dear friends and I am  so grateful for all they do!
See you Saturday! Tons of photos below!

Day 3 of Work!
Cannot believe we are half way through our week. Alex U led the camp's morning devotions this morning. He is so confident in these things and I am so inspired by his courage and grace in these moments :)
He compared his lack of preparation for the devotion to the unknown in a mission trip ! Brilliant! Never know what's going to happen till you get there!! A lot like life!
We spend time often on mission trips talking about where we see God..this morning, my team ,The Slicers, had a really meaningful experience.  Cole speaks of it below. It was such a great moment.  So full of Love and Light and Faith!
The kids have shared their team's experience for today below.
We finally got Charlie to play  the guitar during evening reflection:)
And then we all went to Sonic with the ASP counselors for  ice cream tonight!
All in all.....a very good day!
The photos are below the posts.
Hope you are all well!
We are happy and healthy!
Faithfully

Today we continued work on a mobile home by putting up more underpinning and constructing frames. The tin arrived midday and we got to work setting it up. It was eye opening to me because I had no prior experience doing any construction work. Susan and Barry's group came to work with us today because their family they were working with got sick. It was helpful to have them around and we got twice the amount of work done that we could have. We had to dig ditches for the tin to fit, figure out how to overlap the pieces, and accurately drill in the screws. It took a couple of tries to correctly do those jobs, but in the end it all came together well. The boys in the group worked to lay headers and footers down so the tin can go up and the underpinning can continue. This proved to be more challenging than expected, but the task was rewarding when completed. We took breaks to rest because of the heat and got to play with the dog, Bear, and play some games. Bear is shy of men and barks, but will tuck his tail in between his legs and run away if males get too close. He's started to warm up to our group and allowed us to pet him today. Our group is also bonding not only with the work that we continue to do for those in need, but also through our conversations and experiences.

Work was continued at Miss Lucy's house today, but a truly enlightening experience occurred this morning. As our family went to get gas at the station attached to Japanese restaurant, JC went inside to get a bag of ice. One gentleman opened the door for him, to which he replied "Wow this place is great, you have a door man and everything!" The man then asked where we were from and what we were doing so far from home. JC told him about our work with ASP and he began to tell of his own experiences in life. His name was Nathan and he grew up in a small shack with his mother. There was no running water or electricity, but they got by. When he was young, people much similar ASP came to make their shack more into a home. Nathan told us these people gave him incentive to do his best in the future. He currently lives in a nice house and owns a tree care business. He is doing very well and gives his thanks daily to God. Nathan left us with wise words that will stick with me for life, and that was "You can never out give God."

Today at the Nox house work continued. We started out the hot day with the forty five minute drive to the worksite. There paint thinner was put all over the floor to scrub the vinyl adhesive off of the ground. The room kept heating up like an oven and the pants we are entitled to wear were not helping us cool off. We were just about to add the baseboards on in the master bedroom when we realized they were three and a half inches tall when we needed one inch tall baseboards. Deb then called Martha and explained her the problem that we didn't have the time or the material to cut up this baseboard that we were given when it would be much easier just to get a new one. Martha then told us she couldn't get us the new baseboard until tomorrow, so this project was postponed. In the baby's room the new sub floor was added. On top of that our group nailed in the luan( floor covering)  Following this we covered all the nails with floor adhesive to make sure everything was flat. Tomorrow we are ready to put the vinyl on and finalize the baby's room. By the end of the week we hope to give the Nox family a new room for their up coming child.
